What’s your wedding deadlines?

Two real brides share their tips for planning the perfect party, whatever your timescale.

Merari and Fernando married on September 13th 2015
We’ve got engaged in June 2015 and married just three months later, so we chose convenience over

perfection when planning. We tried to keep our budget low we didn’t have bridesmaids, groomsmen,

a first dance or table plan. Except for the ceremony, and the fact that I was in a white wedding

dress, nothing else felt like it was a wedding at all. But it was beautiful and very moving I

wasn’t expecting to cry so much! As our relationship was long-distance between Los Angeles and

Buenos Aires, we knew that only our closest family and friends would be able to attend, but this

made things easier as there were only 23 guests! We wanted something simple, with an outdoor

ceremony in a park followed by dinner at a restaurant. We chose our venues, outfits, the time of

the ceremony and colour palette based on how we wanted the photos to look. We even Googled what

time the sun was going to set on the day so we could have our pictures taken at the golden hour?

and they turned out so well.?

3 GOLDEN RULES
1 Know yourself and you priorities.Make a list-what are the most important things to you?
Stay to true it.
2 Don't over think things! I was worried my guests might think that my wedding day was boring,

but relax, every one is going to love that you were true to yourself.
3 Get someone to handle things on the day. You should enjoy your wedding and not worry about

centrepieces, favours and all those little details.

Faye and Matt got married on 13th August 2016
Originally, I wanted to elope to Vegas and have an Elvis impersonator marry us, but after many heated discussions we agreed on a low-key wedding closer to home (without Elvis!). We decided to get married at the Rose Gardens in St Albans and have our wedding reception at the Holly Bush Pub.Found my dress(a gorgeous StellaYork number) soon after we picked our venues, and it was hassle free (thanks to Brides of Berkhamsted), but bridesmaid dresses were more of an issue trying to find five dresses to suit all different shapes was a challenge. In the end, I managed to find them at ASOS I love a bargain!
Decorating my venue was the thing I deliberated over the most I changed my mind daily! In the end, we kept the look of our long rustic tables very simple with hessian runners, glitter and lace jars with gypsophila and roses (that my parents picked up from supermarkets the day before) and battery-powered tealights from eBay. We opted for a BBQ wedding breakfast and a selection of pie and mash for the evening, followed by a DJ. I did my own make-up but booked a professional photographer the lovely Sharon Cooper captured our day beautifully?

3 GOLDEN RULES
1 Make spreadsheets! They're great for keeping track of budgets, deadlines and supplier details.
2 Pick a photographer as soon as you book your venue. Good photographers get booked up well in advance and once the day is over, the photos are so important.
3 Start any DIY projects asap. Rush jobs are so much more stressful!
