ETIQUETTE 101

Planning a wedding in Barbados while living in the UK was never going to be easy. With different t aditions across both

countries, my total b'^ability to choose a dress and, most importantly, only six months to go until W- day we definitely needed a helping hand!

We had questions, and etiquette experts Debrett’s had answers. With three new bespoke wedding services designed to help couples navigate planning with diplomacy and tact, the team can answer any questions or concerns you have. We opted to sample the wonderful ‘Bride’s Experience’. Along with my wedding A-team my fiance, mum, and mother-in-law we settled into the plush Mayfair offices (though they can come to you, if you prefer) and relaxed into easy conversation with our etiquette guide, Louise. We covered lots of topics, from how to involve friends in our ceremony, to the right number of family photos to have, and how much we should arrange for our guests arriving from abroad. With such a wealth of knowledge, you get the feeling the Debrett’s team are almost like a personalised concierge service they have contacts in all the right places!

They are friendly and so knowledgeable (that said, a Liady Alexander was mentioned as someone who works there!). But Louise was very welcoming and following her advice, we were reassured we wouldn’t put a foot wrong. The consultation continued over afternoon tea in Claridge,s, with live piano music tinkling in the background. Buoyed by champagne and pastries, we left feeling armed to tackle the wedding plans, and the to-do lists were issued to my W-day party the following week…
