Humbled by Love

Erin and Jake's wedding was a magical day filled with happiness and laughter. "I will forever remember the atmosphere of pure happiness, love and celebration. It's a humbling feeling to know that all our loved ones are there to celebrate our love and commitment." Erin and Jake were married on 4th January 2014 at Tocal Homestead. We asked Erin to share with us some of the details that made their day so special.

The colour theme was decided on once Erin had chosen the Bridesmaid's gowns. "I knew I wanted different shades of the same dress so that the girls didn't look too 'matchy-matchy'. Newcastle Bridal House had such a fabulous selection of gowns to choose from. I was so happy with our selection! The colour palette of our wedding was then settled - turquoise, mint, teal, white and silver with a hint of crystal thrown in for the table settings."

The ceremony was short and sweet, filled with lots of love, happiness and laughter. Following the ceremony we had a 'cocktail hour' with non-alcoholic and alcoholic slushies, nibbles and dips for our guests to enjoy while we were having our photos taken.

The reception was held in the refurbished barn at Tocal Homestead. One of Erin's favourite features was a beautiful pinwheel backdrop in their wedding theme colours which she created herself. "I thought they were a unique feature and not necessarily seen every day." Erin also made a photo-wall with images of each and every guest strung together with twine and pegs and hung near the dance floor. The seating chart was a collection of little paper pockets with hand printed names on the front with the guests' table number and a Scratchie on the inside. Erin's Aunty and Mum made a video to celebrate Jake. "I think that was one of the highlights for everyone as it was so personal and endearing. Jake's face was absolutely priceless and our wonderful photographer Candice Campbell managed to snap me cackling away at him!"

Advice for the bride to be "Everyone said it to me and I didn't listen, but it really is worth organising the smaller details as soon as possible – don't keep putting them off. Even though I had my seating plan sorted weeks before, my bridesmaids and I were still gluing and pinning the night before the wedding!"

Meet the bridal party Erin made a 'Meet the Maids and the Men' table as a little tribute to each of their bridal party members. It included photos of each bridesmaid and groomsman together with interesting information about their relationship, how they met and why they were chosen to be a part of their special day.
