Colour of LOVE

Despite being engaged for a year and half, Gus and I organised our wedding in just two months, as the birth of our daughter Willow threw all wedding plans out the window. As the owner of online wedding gift , I’m surrounded by weddings daily, so knew with the help of styling guru Claire from One Lovely Day, we could pull off a wedding quickly.

Originally wanting a cocktail-style wedding, we could only book for a Sunday, so went for a relaxed, long lunch-style instead, with a guest list of 160. Letting the industrial space speak for itself, we chose a city chic theme, keeping styling details minimal. The lunch of shared platters left little space for table decor so we put emphasis on the table stationery instead. I fell in love with a wintry floral image of deep purples and greens by photographer Nick Knight, and used this as a basis for all the wedding stationery.

My gown was so different from what I’m ever imagined wearing on my wedding day, but its relaxed modern look with halter neckline and front seam split, tied in perfectly with our theme. Gus had been waiting for his wedding day to splash out on a custom-made suit, opting for a smart dark blue two-piece that looked great now, and will stand the test of time.

Lucy went above and beyond for our florals, fashioning a lush foliage archway, dotted with flowers such as roses and lilies in varying shades of pink and white. Ivy climbed the concrete pillars and a long green leafy garland hung over the table where Gus and I sat.

I wanted something a little different for our cake, choosing a distinctive marble-effect design in black and white. My friend Karla, created this with two tiers in delicious lemon and raspberry. The ambience from beginning to end was happy, rowdy and fun. We’re always envisioned our day as a big party, and that’s exactly what we got!
